The Seven 2023 Bag Trends You'Re Going To See Everywhere

Thanks to the fall 2019 runway shows, we've already received a sneak peek of what's to come for fashion next season. To get right to the point: The accessories, specifically the handbags, are good. Designers sent down creations from ball-shaped bags to straw totes (drawing on the popular styles of last summer) as well as newer silhouettes, which will quickly birth an It bag in 2019.

Before one's declared the ultimate winner, however, I've rounded up the seven handbag trends to keep your eyes on. These are the ones you should consider adding to your collection.

Belt Bag

Have no fear, the belt bag you recently bought is still cool for fall 2019. If you don't have one yet, get one below. The accessory was spotted on models at the fall '19 shows like Givenchy, Chanel, and Maryam Nassir Zadeh, which means fresh belt bag options are on their way to retailers. Come winter, you'll be thankful your bag is securely strapped to your waist, so your hands can remain deep in your puffer jacket's pockets. (There's nothing worse than losing a finger to frost bite while fixing a falling bag strap.)

Furry and Fuzzy

It's not enough to simply cozy up in a shearling jacket or fuzzy-lined boots—you'll need a furry handbag come fall, too. Faux fur, shearling, and the like covered backpacks, belt bags, and crossbody bags on the runways of Prada (see above), Max Mara, and Fendi. The texture will be a must-have look on every handbag next season and extend the cozy theme of your wardrobe even further.

Duffle Bag–Inspired

Spotted on the spring 2019 runways: duffle bags, but make it fashion. Labels like Coach and Calvin Klein debuted petite versions of your favorite weekenders and effectively made the silhouette cool for everyday wear. Embrace the cylindrical shape in addition to the boxier styles of recent years.

Crochet

You promised yourself you'd learn to crochet, but never actually got around to it—dammit. Pas de problème, the designers came to your rescue. Crochet totes and backpacks were spotted on the runways of Monse, Isabel Marant, and Chanel, painting an overall boho and summery resort vibe for the season. Whether you're searching for a casual tote to bring to the beach or a semi-fancy one for dinner, there are more than enough crochet options to meet every desire.

Miniature

Designers like Brandon Maxwell and Burberry flirted with the idea of taking your favorite accessories and shrinking them into pieces no bigger than your palms. The runways were dotted with miniature crossbody bags that probably hold nothing more than a few coins. While highly impractical, these tiny purses are dainty and cute for special occasions. Pro tip: Put a tile tracker on these suckers if you're always misplacing your belongings.

Lanyard Bags

Touristy accessories are in style (just go with it). À la the fanny packs of last year, brands such as Gabriela Hearst and Erdem debuted lanyard bags around their models' necks during the spring/summer 2019 shows. Burberry even layered two on one chain. Though I'm surprised this style made a come back, I can't deny their usefulness. Lanyards allow you to carry the necessities without lugging a tote around—a plus if you're planning to attend any concerts this summer.

Single Loop Handle

Emporio Armani, Marc Jacons, Dion Lee, and Adeam all released single-handle bags on the runways last year. The style looks clean and sophisticated, especially when the material is a luxe leather. The understated, innovative design has already made its way to popular retailers like Net-a-Porter and Moda Operandi.
