This is what short hair should look like in 2022 to be hip...
Is it a Liger, a Towe, a Jagulep, or a Leopon? What at first glance read like a toddler's fantasy words are actually real biological names for big cat hybrids, i.e. mixtures between lions, tigers, leopards, and jaguars.
Creativity is not only required for cat crossbreeds when it comes to naming. The juggling and mixing of names and terms have also established itself in hairstyle trends. For example, there is the shaglet, also known as the shullet. This is the mixture of the shag and the mullet, i.e. the modern variant of the mullet. The trendy hairstyle, which is characterized by subtle layering and a voluminous cut, has been extremely popular for a long time and has already adorned the heads of Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus.
The line of hair hybrids was joined in fall 2021 by the bixie: half bob hairstyle, half pixie cut. The fringed trend hairstyle for short hair was reminiscent of the haircuts of well-known 90s stars such as Meg Ryan or Winona Ryder and Ashley Judd.
Short hair will be cut as a mixie in 2022 to be a trend hairstyle
In 2022, the Bixie will now have competition - from the so-called Mixie. Word virtuosos will perhaps already guess. Hiding behind it is a mix of pixie cut and mullet.
We discovered the trend hairstyle thanks to our colleagues from WhoWhatWear.co.uk from the influencer Alyssa Coscarelli. The American has already made us happy with one or the other trend hairstyle in the past with her triangle bob and her shag. Now the Mixie is coming for 2022.

In contrast to the bixie, the mixie is significantly shorter. While the bixie is cut completely fringed, the top hair of the mixie remains rather compact, as in the classic pixie cut. On the other hand, the hair on the neck and ears is longer and fringed – just like on the mullet, which gives it its name.
The accentuated longer fringes give the mixie an edgy look - and at the same time make it super easy to care for. This trendy hairstyle is ideal for anyone who doesn't want to spend a lot of time styling their hair in the morning. In addition, you can't tell from the mixie when the hairstyle has grown out and should actually be trimmed.
The mix of pixie and mullet is suitable for a wide variety of hair types and structures. Fine hair gets more volume and texture through layering, full hair is optimally staged. And also a curly mixie looks super cool and modern.
If you do want to style your mixie, some dry shampoo or sea salt spray will suffice. This gives the hair more grip. You can then use wax or gel to pluck individual strands in the fringe, on the ears, or on the nape of the neck. And for those who like it particularly dramatic, the fringes at the nape of the neck can be easily styled outwards with a straightening iron. As a result, the Mixie exudes even stronger retro vibes in the style of the 90s.
