The lockdown taught us to forego regular re-dyeing appointments and to simply accept our approach and let it flourish. Fortunately, we will be able to take a seat in the hairdressing salon again from March! And if you are in the mood for a transformation, you will get your money's worth with a generous approach: The innovative Board Balayage hair dyeing technique promises maximum lightening results in just one session - with around two to three times more brightness than a conventional balayage technique! Sounds almost too good to be true. That's why we asked Pia Zelzer, a qualified colorist at Puro Munich.

Pia Zelzer: As the name suggests, the board balayage is an optimized version of the classic balayage. However, the freehand technique is not used, but on a so-called board, which can be imagined as an extension of the hairdresser's hand. We fix the foil on the wooden board and work the color into very fine hair sections. In this way, we achieve maximum brightness and a soft transition from the roots to the tips in one step.
Instagram: @puromunichThe technique has its origin in southern Europe, where natural hair colors are much darker and was developed in Italy by the Bosnian Alen Mujagic. The high precision and the technical effort involved in dyeing with board balayage guarantee a very harmonious look with a dark approach and light lengths, which goes perfectly with the current natural hair color trend.
The before-and-after effect is great for the customer and she immediately sees an extreme change. The big advantage of board balayage: It saves time and money! Thanks to the technology, we manage to achieve the brightness and optimal course of two to three treatments in one.
Instagram: @alennmjBoard balayage is a great option for every customer who wants a radiant color result in which the natural hair color is integrated. The technique is not suitable for covering gray hair or for hair that has already been dyed or bleached. A natural approach of 10 to 20 cm is ideal. On natural hair, you can achieve lightening of up to six tones with board balayage. For hair that has already been treated, two to three times more brightness on average.

You should allow around four to five hours for board balayage. The duration of the treatment is longer than usual due to the technical effort involved and is therefore associated with more costs. Depending on the length and amount of hair, you have to reckon with around 200 to 300 euros. In return, the customer achieves the desired result in just one appointment, which can usually be achieved efficiently with several sessions.
