Seventies spirit, short square, sweeping... Hairstylist Gianni Coppa has deciphered, for us, the hair trends of 2022!
What will be the must-have hairstyle trends for 2022? Recently, Gen Z Internet users were passionate about extravagant looks and a breath of freedom was also blowing through the collections of hairstylists this winter. But what about this new year? To find out, we asked his expert opinion of Gianni Coppa, hairdresser founder of the R'Factory salon, in Paris. Cuts, colors, inspirations, discover the hair looks that will be in the “hair” of time.
The seventies are on the rise! Inviting themselves into the decor trends of 2022 - vintage lamps in mind - they are also infiltrating the locker rooms of fashion influencers. On the hairstyle side, the 70s will boost the volume of our cuts and ties and the styled-disheveled effect will be part of it more than ever.
The hairstyles of the '70s, for whom? The seventies cuts are particularly suitable for "a trendy and young public", according to Gianni Coppa. The volume is perfect for elongated faces when it is brought to the level of the contours. Conversely, rather round faces will favor degraded cuts on the edge to refine the cheeks.
The hairstyle of the 90s and 2000s will also be very present in 2022. A "teenager" spirit, with a return to structured cuts and very marked gradations and sweeping.
The hairstyles of the 90s-2000s, for whom? This trend “corresponds well to people who are looking for something more sophisticated in terms of look, specifies the hairdresser. Be careful, it also requires more maintenance in terms of styling and more regular cuts. Moreover, this style can bring a "remembering" effect on a fairly classic person.
The square will still be at the forefront in 2022. This year, “it will be worn short and very structured or styled in a flexible way, predicts Gianni Coppa. It will also most often be dressed with straight bangs, in a Crazy Horse style”. The curly bob will also make its big comeback and the plunging bob will be straighter and straighter.
The short square, for whom? The short square is well suited to elongated faces.
“Vintage blond enhances women with fair, slightly rosy skin, for a guaranteed Brigitte Bardot effect,” recommends the hairdresser. Surfer blonde, which is worn on a medium to light base, is best suited for lightly tanned to light skin tones. Matte skin tones, on the other hand, can favor shimmering browns.
Long shunned, darker roots are now proudly displayed on our heads! For a trendy finish, we go for "something that approaches the natural color, contrasted with light mid-lengths of more than 4 tones", recommends Gianni Coppa.
Good news for sweeping aficionados: it is making a comeback in 2022. Although this partial discoloration is suitable for everyone, a natural effect requires not going beyond 2 tones compared to the base.
Make way for contrasts! The two-tone coloring will also be on the rise. It enhances all skin tones, provided you adopt the shades well. The hairdresser's advice? “Choose a minimum of 4 shades between the lightest and darkest of the two-tone coloring. For example, combine dark chocolate shades with honey shades”.
