Elegant eyeliner like Audrey Hepburn's or seductively framed cat's eyes à la Brigitte Bardot: eyeliners create the most popular make-up variants. Because they emphasize the contours, make the eyes appear significantly larger, and give the entire look more expression. Eyeliner and eyeliner lines also played a major role on the runway this season - the most important trends for summer 2021 could be seen here.
One of the hottest eyeliner variants at the moment is without question the accurately drawn line in graphic shapes. It is entirely up to creativity whether the arch of the liner traces the eye contour in several offset lines (as seen at Saint Laurent), optically continues the corner of the eye, or draws the eyeliner into delicate wings. Additional elements such as small dots or airbrush-like shades are also possible.
Tip: First try out and practice on a piece of paper. Then take enough time for your make-up and use a smudge-proof and waterproof eyeliner with an extra-fine tip.
Another eyeliner trend could be seen at Dior and Giambattista Valli. Or in earlier recordings by Brigitte Bardot! In a kind of homage to her signature look, the eyes have been drawn with great accuracy and clean contours, but still very simply as a thick black line all around.
Tip: Don't forget the primer, otherwise the black color may spread to the eyebrow. In addition, use waterproof textures and also trace and blacken the waterline and corner of the eye inside with cabbage kohl.
There is always something iconic about black eyeliner, which is why it is not surprising that what is probably the most famous variant of all - the precisely curved eyeliner that extends into the outer corner of the eye - is still worn. However, this look will also receive an update in summer 2021 and will either be pulled particularly far outwards and added to the lower eyelid (as with Valentino) or painted with eyeshadow instead of eyeliner on the upper eyelid (as with Chanel).
Tip: trace the waterline from the lower eyelid with a light eyeliner and dab and lighten the area around the eyes and the corners of the eyes with a little concealer or highlighter. This ensures a radiant look and lets the eyeliner (even) come into its own.
