From graphic eyes at Moschino to curved side partings at Fendi and every imaginable variation of the pony at Valentino - these are the best hair, beauty, and make-up trends from Milan.
Milan Fashion Week: The Biggest Beauty Trends 2021/22
The shows of Milan Fashion Week this season came with a good dose of attitude, which testified to a feeling of defiance towards current world events. It was reflected in the side parting of Fendi, Giorgio Armani, and Valentino, where the style was only "canceled" a few weeks earlier on TikTok. And again in the daring graphic eyes of Moschino and Max Mara. It was even felt in the e-girl colors at Dolce & Gabbana and the sci-fi credentials at Salvatore Ferragamo.
Elsewhere, minimal makeup has accentuated natural beauty, while last season's bangs hype continued into almost every type of show. These are the top hair, make-up, and beauty trends from Milan Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2021/22.

What you need to know:
Last month, a group of teens got together on TikTok to announce the death of the side parting - and write it off as nothing more than an "old folk" style. Fortunately, legendary hairstylist, Guido Palau disagrees and puts him in the spotlight at Fendi. Curved over the face and pinned with hair clips, the hairstyle radiated youth and freshness. Likewise at Valentino, where the style was worn with bobs of different lengths, and at Alberta Ferretti, where it was styled as an asymmetrical cut. So don't believe everything you see on TikTok.

What you need to know:
"Emphasize the eyes" - a message that we have been hearing a lot recently thanks to masks and face coverings. And with the wealth of inspiration on display this season, that shouldn't be too difficult for us. Let yourself be inspired by Kabuki, who has been responsible for make-up at Moschino for many years. He gave the old Hollywood glamor a graphic twist, with bold black lines around the eyes and white eyeliner. Also take a look at Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, where graphic contours and curved flicks add a little seriousness and sharpness to the otherwise nostalgic schoolgirl looks.
The pony will be redefined as a beauty trend at Milan Fashion Week 2021. Seen at: Emilio Pucci A/W 2021.

What you need to know:
The Milan shows once again offered ponies in all shapes and sizes. Micro ponies in electrifying blue and chewing gum pink at Dolce & Gabbana, relaxed corkscrew curls at Marni, precise, almost eye-covering cuts at Tod's and Emilio Pucci, and full-grown fringes at Sportmax and Salvatore Ferragamo. And then all of that together at Valentino.

What you need to know:
When you think of gelled hair, you inevitably think of summer - a sleek, sleek look to keep hair off your face. In Milan, however, he now underwent a makeover. We think of Ports 1961, where combed back, gelled hair was tied back into tight chignons for a clean, modern day-and-night look. At Prada, where an almost subcultural mood prevailed, the hair fell in strands over the ears to create an elf-like effect. And at Zanini, the hair was laid sideways for a youthful, feminine feeling.

What you need to know:
There was something very refreshing about the minimal makeup presented this season. It celebrated natural beauty and seemed effortless and tangible. And it was exactly what the world needs under a global lockdown: the opportunity to relax and feel good in your own skin.
You need to know: Dolce & Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo
What you need to know:
In Milan, there was an element of the unexpected: on the lips. Forget classic reds and seductive berry tones, this season Dolce & Gabbana referred to the e-girls on TikTok with a color palette of light blue and green. Meanwhile, Salvatore Ferragamo provided us with subtle sci-fi allusions with his silver-rimmed lips.
