We're not the biggest fans of baby hair. Well, at least not if they're on our own instead of on a cute toddler's head. The term is used to describe the new hair that is freshly grown directly at the roots and is therefore very fine and short. The resulting fluff can hardly be tamed and they usually stick out a little unfavorably and destroy the otherwise well-thought-out hairstyle.
On the other hand, it looks completely different with baby braids. As a hairstyle trend, they are currently conquering the heads of numerous influencers on Instagram. Best of all, the braids not only look super cute and casual, but they're also extremely easy to braid. Yeah!
The newest fan of the mini braids is none other than top model Hailey Bieber. The 24-year-old wore the new star hairstyle on the set of a modeling job and posted a picture of it on Instagram.
It shows her with open, slightly messy wavy hair and part in the middle. As a highlight, she wears two thin, finely braided braids on the left and right of the face, which are fastened with a narrow hair elastic at the base and at the tips. Because the braids frame your face, our colleagues at Popsugar have also given the hairstyle trend the name “Face Framing Baby Braids”.

For us, the hairstyle trend instantly triggers a little flashback to the 90s. After all, the finely braided hair is reminiscent of the typical star hairstyles of the Spice Girls or Gwen Stefani.
You can intensify the effect with eye-catching hair accessories. Hairstylist Laura Polko, who spoke to our colleagues from Popsugar, knows that too. She explains, "Although baby braids already have a nostalgic look, adding hair accessories like butterfly clips, colorful rubber bands and snap clips only makes it even more nostalgic."
If you like it a lot more subtle, you can leave the face-framing mini braids completely natural and just attach a discreet hair tie to the end of the braid. As a result, the braids are closer to the head and don't stick out at the base like Hailey Bieber's.
The great thing is that you can easily braid the face-framing baby braids in your home office from time to time. They really look great on any hair color and go well with both bob hairstyles and long hair.
To do this, simply separate two narrow sections on the left and right of the face and tie them in two fine braids. Secure the end with a hair elastic and fix any protruding hairs at the roots with hairspray - done!
By the way: The Face Framing Minis look particularly cool with casual outfits such as oversized blazers, boyfriend shirts, and wide jeans. This sets an ideal break in style with the cute and playful hairstyle trend.
