And trend-conscious as we are, we are of course already looking around for the latest hairstyle trends so that we are up to date in the new year. We spoke to La Biosthétique hairstylist Alexander von Trentini about the new hair trends. He told us in an interview what the trendy haircut is all about.

What is a choppy cut?

Jane Fonda made it famous in the 1970s: the rocky undone chic. Today influencer Chiara Ferragni wears the distinctive haircut called the Choppy Cut. Behind it is a long hairstyle with character. "Choppy" translates into German as "chopped off". That means: "The choppy cut is cut frayed with many levels," reveals hair expert Trentini. The hair is first cut to a length and then the top hair is thinned in stages. The steps fall so gently that you don't even notice them at first. With the right styling, it looks super voluminous and gives even thin hair more body. The many levels make up the distinctive haircut and make "a seductive, characterful statement", continues Trentini.

In order for the many steps to look good, however, some investment in the morning styling is required. Blow-drying with a round brush or beach waves with a straightening iron is mandatory for the choppy cut. Hairspray and sculpting sprays bring the perfect finish.
