The iconic hairstyle is making an exciting comeback in 2022, proving that girly and cool aren't mutually exclusive.
2022 is the year when we finally break with the stereotypes. This is why work is currently being done on the film adaptation of the plastic doll Barbie with Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig, in which the doll is brought into the 21st century and historical gender roles are broken. Tough and pink no longer have to be mutually exclusive. This is also shown by a new hairstyle trend that stars like Ariana Grande, Hailey Bieber or Jennifer Lopez have already discovered for themselves - and we will be styling it soon.
In the spirit of the feminist movement, we show everything we have in terms of "girliness" and proudly wear the Barbie ponytail in spring. Barbie doll's iconic hairstyle is getting a makeover in 2022: Loved by ponytail queen Ariana Grande, the Barbie ponytail is a very high braid often with side deep bangs. In addition, the look is characterized by a curved ponytail, which can be easily conjured up with a straightening iron.
The great thing about the hairstyle: It's a look that works for everyone. "The elegant yet exciting updo can be pulled up or down and works for all hair types," confirms hairstylist Salvatore Lerna at London salon, The Bohemians. He proves that women (or men) can be girly and cool at the same time.
Salvatore recommends first sectioning off the front section of hair that will frame the face. The rest of the hair is now pulled into a high, tight ponytail with the help of a comb and fastened with a rubber band or (for the extra 90ies look) a scrunchie. The front strands can now be pulled into a deep side parting and pinned in the ear along with the temples.
If you like, curl the ends of the ponytail slightly outwards with a straightening iron or curling iron. Depending on your mood, the ponytail can be prettied up with clips, clips, or headbands.
