After straight haircuts such as the blunt bob or the elongated bob were particularly popular in recent years, it's about time for new looks! Among the current trend hairstyles, there are more and more layered and tousled styles. Thanks to a celebrity wearer, a short hairstyle could become one of the trends for 2022: the mixie cut combines two iconic hairstyles into a modern new look.
Why settle for one look when you can combine several? Just as elements of the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s are mixed up wildly in current fashion, more and more hairstylists are combining various cult hairstyles from past decades. The mixie cut is just like the bixie (bob + pixie), the shullet (shag + mullet), and the pob (pixie + bob) a hybrid of mullet and pixie.

While mullet hats were notorious a few years ago, the modern interpretation is more in demand than ever thanks to prominent wearers such as Miley Cyrus. The mixie is basically the short-haired version of the mullet and has become increasingly popular thanks to one star: The "Money Heist" actress Úrsula Corberó wore a perfect mixie cut in the last few seasons of the Spanish Netflix series.
If you shy away from the word "mullet", let me tell you: the mixie definitely doesn't resemble the extreme "front-short-back-long" hairstyles of the 80s. This short haircut is to be understood more as a homage to the cult hairstyle because the length difference is not so serious due to the not-too-long hair in the neck area.

This makes the mixie perfect for anyone who is flirting with a mullet or a pixie but finds both hairstyles a bit too extreme on their own. By combining both looks, this haircut is definitely less daring, but still, a very trendy statement look. Depending on the shape of your face, you should decide which type of bangs will be most flattering. Our pony guide will help you here. Just like the rather similar bixie, the mixie can be worn with both thin and thick hair. The feathery cut can take the heaviness out of your hair, depending on its texture, while the layers in turn provide more volume at the back of the head.
The cool thing about the mixie is that you can make it fit your face shape nicely with the bangs. In addition to straight bangs, the look looks very stylish, especially with a fringed version:

Depending on your preference, the side sections can be shortened and thinned out or left the same length as the top hair. Therefore, the mixie is also perfect if you want to grow out a pixie or are unhappy with your mullet.
