The pixie cut has been one of the most popular short hairstyles ever since the 1960s thanks to Audrey Hepburn and the worldwide success of the British model Twiggy - and that remains unchanged to this day. Stars like Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, or Emma Watson even made the boyish micro hairstyle their signature look at times. The secret of the pixie cut lies in its contradictions: it accentuates the eyes and facial features like hardly any other haircut and makes the wearer seem almost fragile. At the same time, the millimeter-short hair requires above all a large portion of courage and self-confidence.
Even if the advantage of the pixie cut is its uncomplicated styling, the short-cut hair allows for a surprising variety of looks. Because short is not always short. Variation is offered by the length of the fringe or side sections as well as the parting and the finish. The most important stylings for the pixie cut in summer 2021 could already be discovered on the catwalk.
If the pony is a little longer, i.e. at least four or five centimeters long, it can be wonderfully decorated with hair accessories and transformed into a playful look. Simple hairpins in silver, gold, or black as well as clasps set with pearls, gemstones, or flowers are popular - ideally in XL format.

Whether and how a part is pulled changes the expression of a hairstyle - this applies to chin-length bobs and waist-length hair as well as to pixie cuts. Here too, however, a certain basic length of the outer hair is required. Above all, a side parting with bangs pulled diagonally across the forehead gives the look a certain casualness and transforms the universal short haircut into a modern garçon cut.

Characteristic: bangs cut to unequal lengths and plucked into the forehead. It's a bit reminiscent of failed DIY haircuts from lockdown - and that's exactly why it looks more provocative and more boyish than other hairstyles.

Those who like it uncomplicated can simply shorten the entire hair all over to the same (short) length. A classic and as timeless as it is elegant, especially when you wear the micro-cut with seductive red lips as with Max Mara.

First things first: because ultra-short hair inevitably attracts attention, it should always be well-groomed and healthy. The less dryness, frizz, and color differences and the more healthy shine, the better. Experts recommend using an optimally coordinated product series for the daily care routine and regularly supplying hair and scalp with extra moisture via intensive or spray cures. For the individual styling of the Pixie Cut, matt or glossy hair pastes, waxes, or gels as well as a stick comb are useful.
