The Balmain runway show (spring/summer 2021) lived from visual contrasts: Designer Olivier Rousteing combined casual hairstyles to complement the elegant looks with expressive shoulders, sleek silhouettes, and lots of glitters (from blazer lapels to slip dress). Mostly with a non-chalant side parting and heavily wavy hair, the models walked the catwalk and thus set impulses for the new hairstyle trend in spring 2021. Voilà: The choppy cut is making its first appearance.
The "Choppy" in Choppy Cut means something like chopped off and refers to the layered top hair of the trendy hairstyle. You can choose to just step through the lengths or cut a subtle, long pony (comparable to curtain bangs), which blends harmoniously into the overall picture and frames the face in a feminine way. The choppy cut suits all hair lengths that go at least to the shoulder, so it is the perfect upgrade for long bob and Co. The longer the hair and the more extreme the layers, the more effective the hairstyle.
Now that the child has a name, the stepped cut is more and more eye-catching, even with fashion professionals and models. No wonder, because the beauty look is wonderfully calm and looks a lot at the same time. You may be fed up with ironed bob hairstyles. Perhaps the choppy cut also looks particularly contemporary in times of lockdown (and hairdressing salons that are forever closed) due to its effortless look. One thing is certain: the trend hairstyle is perfect for a lively spring look and embodies warm air and sweet life.

However, you shouldn't be fooled by the casual look of the trend hairstyle: The choppy cut is definitely more complex when it comes to styling. The hairstyle is particularly effective with wavy hair - if you have naturally curly hair, you can save yourself the styling step, everyone else has to help with a curling iron or straightening iron. Curling foam or salt spray can also enhance the messy look of the choppy cut and make it last throughout the day.
