Each year, Fashion Week marks the launch of new fashion and beauty trends. When it comes to hairstyles and haircuts, in particular, Spring / Summer 2021 promises to be powerful and bohemian at the same time. Fabien Giambiona, Hair Artist L’Oréal Professionnel, deciphers for us the trendy cuts that we are likely to see everywhere.
If spring-summer 2020 gave pride of place to short cuts, this is still the case in spring-summer 2021. With one detail, however: the short is back in force in an even shorter version! The trend ends short cuts with volume and length on top of the head. The boyish cut, which is on the rise this year, is a version in the simpler device: the hair is only a few centimeters long and evenly throughout the head.
No more fuzzy cuts and moving hairstyles: this year we are focusing on straight cuts, fairly fixed. The square is for example always trendy in its crystallized version. Fabien Giambiona, Hair Artist L’Oréal Professionnel, deciphers for us the trendy haircuts that we are likely to see everywhere this spring/summer 2021.
This season again, short haircuts are on the rise. With one detail, the short is now worn... Very short! No more rock-cut pixie cut, "the short trend is really very short, boyish," analyzes Fabien Giambiona, Hair Artist L’Oréal Professionnel. The hair is only a few centimeters (a few millimeters sometimes), the legs are slightly marked, the hair is not tapered and almost not styled. "This kind of cut is particularly good for thin and slightly elongated faces, angular faces too," explains the pro. Avoid on very rectangular faces, however, since the very short cut accentuates the masculine side. "
Unlike very short cuts, maxi lengths are also very trendy. The hair is worn very long, well below the shoulders, and slightly wavy at ends. "The vintage, bohemian, and seventies look are on the rise," continues Fabien Giambona. The hair is worn long, with a parting in the middle of a curtain fringe. The hair is cut straight, with no layering, we really want to highlight the healthy side of the hair. This trendy cut is perfect for thick hair and light colors like Venetian blonde, copper blonde, gold, and other very subtle highlights.
The 70s definitely haven't said their last word! This season again, the mullet cut tries to impose its very noticed style. “For it to be really pretty, you have to have the stylish look that goes with it,” thinks Fabien Giambona. The androgynous profiles, thin and completely assumed manage to wear it very well. The hyper trend in England and Spain for several years now, it is also making a comeback among certain celebrities such as Miley Cyrus or Ursula Corbero, the star of Casa de Papel. The little sister of the mullet cut, the shaggy cut (or shag), also returns to the heart of the movement. Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lou Doillon, and Alexa Chung are loyal to him.
The square cut is still present on the catwalks. But for spring-summer 2021, the only trendy bob is meant to be short and straight. "We no longer see a plunging square or a square ball at all," continues Fabien Giambiona. We wear the rock version square, at the jaw or maximum at the shoulders, with a parting in the middle of a fringe. »A cut that delights the oval face (to which everything goes!) But a little less the round or square face. On the styling side, wear it straight or slightly wavy: the choice is yours!
