This color trend is perfect for all blondes who want to change their look...
Anyone who is fed up with bleaching their hair but would like to change their look is well catered for with this color trend: "Expensive Brunette" is an elegant brown.
It's official: this year the era of blondes will come to an end – at least for the time being. In favor of another color trend already emerging, spring/summer 2022 will see what was until recently the favorite hair color of many takes a backseat.
Red hair first took over, and now it's becoming increasingly clear that browns and semi-brunettes will also be dominating this season. Both options are perfect for blondes looking to change up their look, as they don't require bleaching on a lighter base color. This proves that blondes who used to wear such shades are now switching to the other side. And of all the different options, there is one that stands out from the rest: the classy brown.
"The name refers to a luxurious and perfected hair color, achieved by mixing different shades that are tailored to the needs of the hair and add dimension to the hair," explains Conchi Fernández, chief stylist at To Be Aguilar Delgado. So it's a light brown base with a large number of highlights - which is why you usually start with blonde hair.
But it is also suitable for lightening darker hair - and gives the face a lot of radiance. "It's the perfect shade for women whose base color is light brown or dark blonde and flatters all brown haired people who want a lighter color without putting in a lot of effort and without getting strong roots. So it suits brunettes, who want a lighter finish, as well as blondes who want to give their hair more depth and warmth," confirms Eduardo Sánchez, director of the eponymous salon.
LONDON, ENGLAND - DECEMBER 13: Hailey and Justin Bieber are seen at the Royal Opera House on December 13, 2021, in London, England.
So it's an ideal option for those who are tired of bleaching, as evidenced by some celebrities who have already followed the trend. The first was Hailey Bieber, who ditched her signature blonde for a luxe brunette a few months ago, while the latest case is Gigi Hadid, who ditched her normal hair color for the new Moschino campaign - last year she also sported one toyed with coppery red – and opted for this flattering maroon. And then there are those who have gone the opposite way — from dark brown to a lighter shade — like Selena Gomez, who debuted a new bob in this shade on her Instagram profile a few days ago.

But achieving the perfect "expensive brunette" effect isn't easy, it needs to be tailored to individual specifics and well thought out (which means, as always, you need to put yourself in the right hands). Also, an integral part of this coloring is the healthy look that the hair gets. Although it requires less maintenance than a blonde - and allows the natural hair to grow longer -, as Maison director Eduardo Sánchez points out, "it is important that the hair is shiny and healthy, which is why it is very important to preserve the highlights and the luminosity to maintain the color at home, paying close attention to the hydration of the hair and using conditioners or repigmentation masks".
