Summer Hair: Beauty Professionals Reveal What You Should Look Out For When Taking Care Of It

Who doesn't want healthy, shiny hair? Best of all, 365 days a year. But especially in summer - our favorite time of year - hair needs a lot of attention and care. Because regular styling, UV rays, chlorine, and seawater put a lot of strain on our hair and transform shiny dream manes into dull, brittle straw by the end of summer.

Experts reveal: four hair care tips for summer hair

1. Shampoo with a balanced pH

The most important thing for healthy, shiny hair is, of course, care. A high quality, moisturizing AND pH-neutral (!) The shampoo is essential. Why is the pH of your shampoo so important?

Quite simply: the scalp as well as the rest of the skin of our body has a special pH value between 4.5 and 5.5. If you now use a care product with a much higher, alkaline pH value, the scalp can dry out. An alkaline pH value also has negative effects on our hair. Because a pH value that is too high creates more friction between the hair fibers and thus frizz and hair breakage. If the pH value is too low, however, the cleaning ability of the shampoo is limited.

The Brazilian Keratin Smooth Haircare with Brazilian keratin protein, avocado, and coconut oil makes the hair supple and supplies it with important nutrients...

Celebrity hairstylist Michael Douglas recommends the haircare range with salon-quality from OGX: “The new haircare from OGX with a balanced pH value strengthens the hair, reduces frizz, and ensures intense shine.” Perfect for the daily hair care routine! The balanced pH value in shampoos and conditioners gently cleanses without unbalancing the hair and scalp. The formulas do not contain any sulfate surfactants, but instead contain valuable oils and important nutrients tailored to the different hair types, which optimally care for the hair and ensure an intense shine. Uuuand the tropical fragrances with coconut milk, argan oil, or Brazilian keratin oil just smells heavenly!

2. Do not allow hair to air dry

In summer we like to treat our hair to a little break from styling. The hairdryer can stay in the closet; instead, sexy air-dried beach waves are now the order of the day. Who would have thought this was anything but good for your hair?

In fact, experts advise blow-drying your hair instead. The reason: after washing, the cuticle of the hair is swollen. The longer the hair is wet, the longer it is in this swelling state and is therefore particularly prone to hair damage. Logical, right? Tip: Blow dryers with which the temperature can be regulated are particularly gentle on the hair and prevent heat damage.

The following applies during the summer months: still apply for heat protection before styling (for example the hair oil Moroccan Argan Penetrating Oil from OGX, protects against damage caused by heat styling and UV rays).

3. Round brush with natural bristles

Even the wrong hairbrush can damage and break your hair in the long run. When buying, you should therefore pay attention to high-quality bristles that do not have rough bristle heads. The following applies to hairbrushes: Natural bristles (so-called "Shine Enhancer" brushes) give a silky shine and prevent hair breakage. Synthetic bristles, on the other hand, can be sharp-edged and split the hair fibers. Wet hair is best gently detangled with a Tangle Teezer.

4. Use hair oils instead of hairspray

An ultimate professional trick from hair experts like Wendy Iles (hairstylist from Heidi Klum): hair oil or finishing oil spray instead of hairspray.

Hair oils strengthen, condition, and strengthen the hair and make it shine. At the same time, they protect against humidity and prevent the dreaded frizz - so that the mane looks good in every situation, regardless of the temperature. By the way, hair oils also improve the hair structure and give it an incredibly soft and supple feeling. Hair sprays, on the other hand, dry out the scalp with their fixing spray and lie heavily on the hair (bye-bye natural look, hello concrete helmet).

Hair oils and oil-based finishing sprays care for the hair and set the styling at the same time

The OGX hair oil Moroccan Argan Penetrating Oil lies like a very thin veil on the hair, tames frizz, ensures naturally falling beach waves, and gives an intense shine. The summer can come!
