Now that "Sex and the City, Just Like That..." is in the starting blocks, a new photo shows how Sarah Jessica Parker and her colleague Cynthia Nixon skillfully put their gray hair in the limelight.
"Back together," read the caption to a photo of Sarah Jessica Parker and Sex and the City actresses Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis on Instagram on Saturday. The snapshot documents the day the three former co-stars (excluding Samantha) began reading the first episodes for the upcoming reboot "And Just Like That..." in front of the New York City skyline, and the reactions to it were marked by undisguised enthusiasm.
While the anticipation for the revival is great - what will they wear? Who are you going to date? Is Carrie still with Big? - here at Vogue we're also celebrating the fact that two-thirds of the trio, Parker and Nixon, seem to be celebrating their gray hair in style. While Nixon wore a light silver all-over look, Sarah Jessica Parker showed a pearly hairline in what was otherwise sandy blonde. Both women in their mid-50s looked sensational.
The movement to show our grays and make them a feature rather than hiding them has grown exponentially over the past year. Salons are now seeing a surge in requests for color treatments that help incorporate gray into existing color as many plans to transition into silver tones entirely.
While Caroline of Monaco was one of the 2020 hue's best advertisers, numerous other famous women have also started turning gray this year. In February, Andie MacDowell raved about her own hair transformation in an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show after she was forced to grow her hair out in quarantine, like many of us. She stressed that the change was far from "letting go" - to quote the outdated phrase - and is a big fan of her new look - as are we.
As for Carrie and Miranda, we hope that they will do their bit for their gray hair as well.
