When we walk the streets this summer we sometimes forget that we are in 2021. The 90s and 2000s are as present now as they were last time almost three decades ago. Present in the form of cool fashion trends, but also playful hairstyles.
In fact, many hairstyles from the Noughties are absolutely hip again at the moment. Three retro looks, in particular, are among the celebrities, but also again a big hairstyle trend on the street...
The 2000s are best known for their playful, almost kitschy looks and accessories. But 20 years later, such an accessory is back in the hair of all influencers and stars like Dua Lipa: butterfly-shaped clips. Now that hair accessories have met with great enthusiasm in recent seasons, it is not at all surprising that the cute brackets are back again. After all, all sorts of exciting looks can be created with it - without any permanent commitment.

Because bangs are more popular than ever, it was only a matter of time before variants from the trendy noughties made a comeback. The choppy bangs, as worn by model Jourdan Dunn, are restless fringed bangs, the strands of which are clearly separated from each other. They also don't have to be trimmed perfectly to the same length but live from the fact that they are unequal length. This makes them the slightly cooler, more dynamic equivalent of shallow curtain bangs.
The color was also experimented with extensively in the 2000s. A dyeing technique has developed that can now be seen everywhere again, including on JLo's head: Chunky Highlights. After years of lightening every thin strand in order to create the most natural look possible, it is now cool again to clearly show that it is not the natural hair color. The nice thing about the hairstyle trend: It's easy to color yourself. After all, this is where thick strands are colored at a great distance. And the hairstyle lives from the DIY look.
