Blending is the new balayage in spring...
Balayage has long been considered the most popular coloring technique of all, after all, the delicate strands in the hair guarantee a supernatural, sun-kissed look that radiates effortless elegance. Nevertheless, in spring 2022, balayage will face competition from a new technique called blending, which merges two hair colors into a classy overall look. We explain how this works and why blending is the new, modern, and slightly bolder hair color trend compared to classic balayage.
Blending stands for a new hair color trend in which two hair colors blend together... Instagram: @jhair_stylistBlending stands for a new hair color technique that plays with two different nuances in the hair, making it look wonderfully alive and giving it depth. And of course, the new hair color trend is also ideal for everyone who can't quite decide between two looks. In the first step, you look for two hair colors: These can either correspond to the same color family or differ in their brightness. Light cream and dark wheat blonde harmonize just as well here as chocolate and mahogany brown. But blending is also great with hair colors that create a stronger contrast. Warm blonde and peach or brunette and copper are just one of the countless possible combinations. By the way, the interplay of two different hair colors makes blending look particularly modern and gives the look a somewhat bolder touch than balayage, which is more reserved in character.
Then you can start right away: For the blending technique, the hair is divided into two sections just below the parting in the first step. The lower part is then dyed in a stronger tone, the top hair can be left natural or dipped in a lighter shade. Later, the stronger tones shimmer out from under the lighter layers and this allows the two overlapping hair colors to merge into one look. In order to optimize the color gradient, the professional can also set accents on the parting or emphasize the area around the face with one of the two hair colors.

Because blending works with really every hair color and it can be individually matched to the skin tone, the new hair color trend flatters everyone. The overlapping effect comes into its own in slightly longer hair. Especially if you style your hair in soft waves. This makes the color gradient appear even softer and puts the focus on the lower section of hair. balayage? Take a break from this in spring 2022, because we are now opting for the new version of the highlights, which are staged in a super modern way thanks to blending.
