A hybrid of a mullet and a pixie, the "mixie" is one of the hottest trend hairstyles of 2022.
In the new year, two hairstyle classics are doing things together: the mullet meets the pixie. And we'll tell you what cool look comes out of it...
In 2022, when it comes to hairstyling, retro meets retro - and that results in an absolutely modern trendy hairstyle. Allow the "Mixie". As you can already guess from the name, the mullet and the pixie play a role here. Two classics from past decades: one has been an absolute hairstyle favorite again since 2021, the other a go-to haircut that will probably never go out of style. By the way, not to be confused with the "Bixie", a mixture of bob and pixie.
The hybrid has already turned the heads of many TikTok users. The hashtag #PixieMullet is trending there, which gives an idea of the upcoming hype surrounding the "Mixie". In the end, you get the best of both haircuts, i.e. a mix of edgy, rocking, and chic. But let's take a closer look at what specifically defines this trend hairstyle. In summary: short at the front, long or longer at the back.
The basis of the 2022 hairstyle trend is the mullet, which is heavily layered, has a short front section, and, as a rule, has thinned, medium-length hair at the nape of the neck. But now that the pixie comes into play, the hair at the back of the head is cut even shorter. And don't forget to trim the sides well too! Harmonic transitions are deliberately ignored here because "mixie" is more about creating rough edges and obvious separation between the front and back parts of the hair.

When it comes to styling, it's all about that certain undone character. This trendy hairstyle has the intention to look effortless and casual. Nothing has to be perfect here. Just as if you had just gotten out of bed. Especially with wavy and curly hair, the "Mixie" looks really cool when the natural texture comes out. The straightening iron can therefore remain in the bathroom cabinet. And if you have straight hair, we can help with a bit of mousse or styling spray.
