The messy bun is like the search for the perfect pair of jeans: if you want them too much, you are guaranteed not to find them. Only when you stop looking for it does it fall into your hands, as if by chance.
Even with the messy bun, effort does not pay off. Of course, when you come home in the evening and unintentionally twist your hair upwards, the messy bun fits perfectly. If you try the same thing in front of the mirror in the morning, it either looks too neat or the hair keeps falling out and nothing of the hairstyle can be seen.
There is, however, a method that is guaranteed to succeed in the trendy hairstyle. We'll show you step by step how to style the perfect messy bun in the next to no time.
A bun styling works best if your hair hasn't been washed for a day or two. Then they have a nice grip and don't come off the hairstyle so easily later.
Anyone who has washed them fresh should take care to give them some texture. To do this, you can blow-dry it overhead, for example, and detangle it with your fingers instead of a brush. For more grip, it is also a good idea to use a suitable care product in the lengths.
This product provides more texture and grip:
Use a comb or a brush to style your hair into a high ponytail and first secure it with your hands.
Secure the ponytail with a sturdy hair elastic. Caution: Before you wrap it around your hair one last time, do not pull all of your hair, but only part of it through the hair tie.
Now comes the crucial part: Divide the downward sections of hair into two strands and wrap them around the bun (as often as your hair length allows).
You can then fix the strands with several bobby pins. To do this, slide the bobby pins into the outside of the bun and diagonally inwards towards the hair elastic. Et voilà, your messy bun is ready!
Finally, you can loosen a few strands in the bun to underline the messy look. It also looks great when individual strands fall out completely and frame your face. If you want the hairstyle to be particularly stable, apply a little hairspray as a finish.
