On the same wavelength: The wavy bob is the hairstyle trend for 2022 and will bring a lot of momentum to hair styling...
Every season has its trend hairstyle. While last autumn it was the pixie or before that the shag, now in spring 2022 the wavy bob is making a big impression as a hairstyle trend. The hairstyle has been with us for a long time - more precisely since the typical Brit Pop and Indie Sleaze Style of the early 2000s. A young presenter from Great Britain caused a sensation with her nonchalance and became the new style icon almost overnight.
We're talking, of course, about Alexa Chung and her typically chin-length waves. What made her even more famous than her haircut back then was her hair color. Or rather: her two hair colors. Eventually, the dark brown of her hairline gently faded into a lighter shade of caramel towards the lengths. That was revolutionary and soon all hairdressing salons dyed their customers' hair in the style of ombré hair.
So while we still have to wait for the revival of ombré hair, the wavy bob is now in the spotlight as the hairstyle trend of 2022. It's not just Alexa Chung who still wears it as she did back then - although she's referred to as a long bob - also style icons and influencers such as Linda Tol, Reese Blutstein, and Marianne Theodorsen are currently wearing her bob in gentle waves. Whether they created the hairstyle trend for 2022 or whether the inspiration came from the runway first is a bit like the question of the chicken and the egg. What is undoubtedly certain, however, is that the wavy bob has come to remain a hairstyle trend once and for all.
The preparation for the wavy bob starts right at the washing. To ensure that the waves fall gently and get the right amount of moisture before styling, you should use a conditioner - either the leave-in or rinse-out variant - after shampooing.
Now the main work begins. The best result is achieved by blow-drying the towel-dried hair in different directions with a large round brush. Curl the hair in medium-wide sections with the brush, hold the heat and then let it fall gently. This gives the waves their bounce and volume. Then fix with the cold setting. If your hair tends to get wavy quickly, you can fix it with a straightening iron by moving it through the hair in zigzag movements.
Finally fix the hair with hairspray. For the equally popular wet look from the catwalk à la Missoni and Miu Miu, use hair gel with a wet finish and spread it carefully through your hair. Et voilà. In the best case, the result lasts until the next hair wash.
