Mary-Kate Olsen shows how "best dressed" works under lockdown conditions: with a knitted hat and plaits.
Nothing beats the Olsen brand of coolness - especially when it comes to style. After closely following the rise of sweet nostalgic braids over the past few months of quarantine (not to mention that we tested them ourselves), we are of course delighted that they have been picked up by the epitome of downtown chic: Mary-Kate Olsen.
Earlier this week, the designer left The Row's Greenwich Street studio in New York in a cream-colored Chanel coat, a white button-down coat, gray trousers with cuffs, and Bottega Veneta sneakers. She rounded off the retro-modern look with a black rib knit hat that she had pulled over loosely looped, chest-length braids. While the double braids emphasized the casualness of her ensemble, they were undeniably - and totally convincingly - functional. Hanging braids are easy to braid if you are in a hurry, and advantageous for taming long, outgrown curls and protecting them from the winter elements. Why don't you just tie yourself two nimble braids, put on a hat, and go for a walk ?!

Olsen is the ultimate model woman for adult-looking braids because she provides fashion and beauty role models that work in the real world while also inspiring us for our next bodega run outfit.
