For hair and make-up, this meant a cheerful splash of color around the eyes, 3D decorations on the face, colorful strands, and unusual braided hairstyles. Last season's emphasis on health and wellbeing was reinforced by flushed cheeks like Simone Rocha and Roksanda, while the classic red lips were replaced with playful high gloss.

You should definitely know these 6 beauty trends from London Fashion Week H/W 2021

Colorful strands of hair at Matty Bovan H/W 2021.

Seen by: Matty Bovan, Art School

What you need to know:

Where last season was about coloring whole heads in shades of hot pink and bright green, this season it was about carefully selected color accents. Think of Christina Aguilera in the "Dirrty" video, but make it fashionable and maybe a little more underground, which was the case with Art School thanks to hairstylist Shon Ju, or venture into Matty Bovan's psychedelic rainbow stripes and shine in the spotlight.

2. The trend: Glossy lips

Lip gloss is making a comeback. As seen at Vivienne Westwood H/W 2021.

Seen at: Fashion East, Vivienne Westwood, Halpern, Yuhan Wang, Bora Aksu, Osman Yousefzada, Mark Fast, Burberry

What you need to know:

There was something very refreshing about the glossy lips shown this season. They were young and playful, but also soft and romantic. Forget about sticky juicy tubes from 2000, these new glosses are lightweight and moisturizing. Keep it natural and unobtrusive as with Maximilian and Nensi Dojaka at Fashion East or spice it up with a multidimensional high gloss, as with Halpern and Mark Fast for a glam that works both day and night.

3. The trend: 3D beauty

A real highlight: 3D make-up at Bora Aksu H/W 2021.

As seen at Burberry, Matty Bovan, Bora Aksu

What you need to know:

"Away from the computer and back to real life!" (as soon as it is possible again) was the message of many shows this season. This was especially felt in the myriad of 3D makeup embellishments - the art that should be appreciated outside of Zoom. Take, for example, Isamaya Ffrench, who distributed star-shaped crystals around the faces of the models for Burberry, or Janeen Witherspoon, who placed delicate, torn astrantia flowers under the eyes at Bora Aksu.

4. The trend: Bridgerton effect

80s glam at Molly Goddard H/W 2021.

Where we've seen it: Vivienne Westwood, Molly Goddard, Roksanda, Simone Rocha

What you need to know:

This season the wellness concept has been taken literally, with lots of blush on the cheeks: let's call it the Bridgerton effect. Check out Simone Rocha for the rosy debutante complexion or Molly Goddard for the pink 80s glam.

5. The trend: Splashes of color

Color accents in lilac and mauve tones by Thornton Bregazzi H/W 2021.

As seen at Molly Goddard, Vivienne Westwood, Matty Bovan, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi

What you need to know:

After nearly a year in lockdown, cheerful splashes of color that accentuate the eyes are just what the world needs right now. Take an example from Preen by Thornton Bregazzi with soft lilac and mauve tones or go for strong pink like Molly Goddard.

6. The trend: Braided hairstyles

Braided hairstyles were reinterpreted at Simone Rocha H/W 2021.

As seen at Simone Rocha, Bora Aksu

What you need to know:

The nostalgic lockdown hairstyle: The braid is getting a makeover on the catwalk this season. They are artfully piled up at Simone Rocha (where punk meets princess) or braided into a bun at Bora Aksu to underline the restraint of the Regency era.
