Andie MacDowell wears her gray hair on the red carpet at the 74th Cannes Film Festival - and is setting a trend.
Why gray hair is now trendy on the red carpet?
It wasn't that long ago that women were taught to fear gray hair. But, as Andie MacDowell made it clear on Tuesday night on the red carpet in Cannes 2021 at the premiere of "Annette", it is now clearly the hue du jour. Given how good she looks with her natural hair color, it can't be long before everyone is wearing their gray hair loose and proud.
63-year-old MacDowell showcased her brunette shade with a gray hairline, trading flashy jewelry for voluminous, curly hair that did whatever it took. Her curls were the perfect choice for her blue, beaded Prada dress and color-coordinated make-up. She wore a pearly shade of blue with silver around her dark eyes and a warm, dark rose on her lips and cheeks for a wonderfully glowing complexion.
MacDowell was also joined by Helen Mirren, whose silver and white chignon was one of the best hair looks of the evening, and Jodie Foster, who wore a few flattering strands of gray around her face, demonstrating how well you can grow your natural hair color can.
Holding up the flag for a hair color that was once shunned, Sarah Jessica Parker also showed off her gray hairline just a few weeks ago in a photo taken at the start of filming for the new Sex and The City reboot. The movement to wear our grays with pride rather than masking them has grown exponentially over the last year of lockdown. Salons are already seeing a huge surge in requests for color treatments that help incorporate gray into existing color. Long live the Gray Revolution!
